The first question is always why remove old relics from public land, even if they do celebrate traitors to America?
The answer is simple. Monuments to the confederacy are tributes to white supremacy the literal foundation of the treasonous government of the South, placed decades after the war to enshrine racists and intimidate Black Americans and normally found at the courthouse or public park and always on the public dime. And that is why they are located in most states at a cost of 40 Million taxpayer dollars every several years.
Removing confederate monuments from public land strikes at the last physical vestiges of white supremacy.
As Dr. King said, everyone can lead because everyone can serve.

Until Congress steps in, removing confederate monuments is a "state's rights" issue - sound familiar?
This means that the effort is completely grass roots - state by state, city by city and county by county.
